Nga Waka Sauvignon Blanc 2021
$22.00 inc. GST
Conditions over the second half of the 2021 growing season were near to perfect, however cool, damp weather during flowering, resulted in yields being down 50% overall compared to an average yielding year. The result – great fruit – but not much of it.
Our Sauvignon Blanc is cool fermented in stainless steel tanks. It has tropical fruit flavours threaded with lime and mineral notes. An intense and persistent Martinborough Sauvignon Blanc.
4.5 Stars – Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
Pristine and elegantly lifted, the bouquet shows green apple, nectarine, grapefruit and lemon peel aromas, leading to a finely focused palate offering youthful charm and lingering juicy fruit intensity. Well-structured by vibrant acidity, fishing long and crisp-dry. At its best: now to 2024.
93 points – Cam Douglas MS
Pungent, ripe, fruity and enticing bouquet with aromas of white pineapple and grapefruit, apple, fresh green herbs and a core of minerality. Vibrant, fresh and powerful on the palate with flavours of crunchy red apple and pear, tropical fruits and sage, fresh gooseberry and golden kiwifruit. Lovely mouthfeel and youthful vibrato. Best drinking from 2022 through 2026.
91 points – Bob Campbell MW
Bright, fresh, crisp sauvignon blanc with passionfruit, guava, capsicum and nectarine flavours. Quite a weighty, textural and silken wine supported by moderately assertive acidity.
4 stars – Michael Cooper
The attractive, vibrant 2021 vintage (4*) was cool-fermented in tanks and made in a bone-dry style. Bright, light lemon/green, it is full-bodied, with generous, ripe, passionfruit-like flavours to the fore, and fresh, crisp acidity to keep things lively. Good drinking for the summer of 2021-22.
