Roger is founder, winemaker and ceo (shorthand for all the jobs no-one else can be persuaded to do) with overall responsibility for grape and wine production, marketing and general management.
When not engaged in the above Roger can be found running around after two busy, delightful teenage children – Henry “whatever Dad” and Ella “Dad you’re such a fail”, indulging his golf addiction, swimming, or playing a mean (not in a good way) guitar. Married to Carol.
Greatest achievement – getting Carol to marry him.
Carol is a shareholder, director and Nga Waka company accountant. Married to Roger.
Somehow also finds time to be practice manager for a local accountancy firm and run a household of two, aforementioned teenagers, one idle husband and a substantial menagerie (chickens, ducks, cat etc.)
Similar, but more successful addiction to golf than Roger and a budding squash player. Theme – women can do anything because they have to do everything.
Mike is Vineyard Manager and Roger’s right hand man since 1996.
Hailing from one of Martinborough’s prominent settler families, Mike moved from a farming and stock & station background into viticulture in the early 1990’s. With over 20 years vineyard work under his belt Mike is Martinborough’s most experienced vineyard manager and a fount of local knowledge.
Outside of work Mike uses his one good eye to devastating effect as a crack small-bore shooter, his honours include representing Wairarapa at the provincial level. His expertise with a rifle also makes him very useful at bird scaring in the lead up to harvest.
